Tom’s out-of-town till Thursday
Tom’s in Vegas covering CES for the third year in a row which always happens to coincide with our anniversary. Yay - Happy 7th Anniversary to Tanel and Tom.
I’ve been a little apprehensive about this trip because last year I had one of my most horrible days in recent memory. This was the time that I stopped fighting the doctor every time they prescribed antibiotics for an ear infection. Kellan was 9.5 months and had just been diagnosed with ear infection No. 4 at his 9 month checkup a few days before Tom left. To make a long story short, the antibiotics didn’t kick in, he came down with a fever over the weekend. We went back tot he doctor on Monday, they switched antibiotics, and he ended up crying for 6 hours staight that evening. After the first three hours, I loaded up the kids in the car to see if that would sooth Kellan. Then, I called the doctor (around 9 PM). The doctor called in a prescription and told me I needed to get some Motrin as well to get through the night. Tom’s gone, Noah’s sleeping in the car, baby’s screaming - I drove up to the 24 hour pharmacy who told me they were out of the medicine the doctor had prescribed and they needed to contact the doctor. They also said they couldn’t sell me Motrin in the drive through. They said it would be a while, and that I should come back in 30 minutes. With one kid sleeping and the other screaming, I had nowhere to go and just waited. I ended up leaving with both the prescription and the Motrin. I think they felt sorry for me.
Poor Tom - the one night of fun they were supposed to have that trip (by going to Cirq de Soleil), was very frequently interrupted by his loving wife and screaming child.
Coincidentally, the boys had just started at Noah’s old school that same week.
