Twelve days to go until Baby #3 – Random thoughts

We haven’t posted a podcast (or anything else for that matter) in the past couple of weeks, so I thought I’d do a quick pregnancy update. The official due date is July 24th based on the first day of my last menstrual cycle, but according to calculations based on date of ovulation (or the day I said, holy s___ this can’t be – we just had unprotected sex two or three days ago), the date is July 20th.

I’m at that completely miserable stage where I wake up in pain if I don’t get up to pee about 3 or 4 hours after I go to sleep, where I have to use the bathroom every time I stand up, where I never feel really hungry, and I’m generally cranky and irritable. In order to have as much paid time off as possible after the baby is born (which is only going to be about 6 weeks this time around), I’m planning to work all the way up until the moment that I go into labor. Oh how I wish I lived in a country with actual maternity benefits other than allowing you to take up to 12 weeks of upaid leave without the threat of losing your job.

This time around, I have yet another doctor and will be delivering at yet another different hospital. I chose this doctor based on the fact that they’re one of the only doctors in this area who will do VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean). Even though I’ve never had a cesarian (or C-section for short), I figured if they do VBACs, they’re more likely to listen to their patients. I’m so sick of OB doctors wanting to schedule their deliveries because of what they have going on and pressuring to induce.

So that’s what’s been going through my head these days. Not sure I’m ready for the baby to be HERE, but I’m definitely ready for it be OUT.
