That's right. For our kids, BPA-free containers. If there are a bunch of moochers that want free water, they get the carcinogens that come with it. Bring your own water next time kid.

We've heard all the bad stuff about plastics, and although we haven't changed our food storage, it did freak me out a bit, and as a result we bought the kids BPA-free bottles and insulated thermoses for their lunch boxes - so we no longer buy bottled water or carry bottled water to soccer, etc., unless we're supplying the whole group.

As much as possible I use zip top bags. Other than that, plastic. As long as you don't warm up in it too much (which Tanel does for her lunches), it mostly holds together pretty well. For us, we don't care enough to try to make the plastic containers last. I picked up a set for $20 the other day with something like 38 pieces in it. For that price, I don't care if a few get ruined by tomatoes or melted in the dishwasher. But that's just me.

I use plastic for storage, but generally take the food out of the container to reheat. I have had some staining with tomato-based food, but never had it eat away the container. Tomato is acidic, so it makes sense. That type of wear probably indicates that you are using thin containers.

I have found that thicker, more expensive, containers are worth it - they hold up much better and are replaced mush less often. Handwashing instead of using the dishwasher will extend the life of plastic containers even further.

Here's a ? For you...
I've heard you guys talk about your pots and pans but what do you use for leftovers and stuff? We just made the switch to glass after hearing alot about plastic. Also all the tomato based food we eat had eaten away some of our plastic containers EEW! So, what are you plastic or glass?

I wish there was a switch that could turn on mend abiltly to hear babies while sleeping! My hubby sleeps through the baby AND the dogs vomiting! One night the dog puked four times! He was completly oblivious! Is there a switch?

So no big surprises about the state of our union huh!?

Can't wait for the next show.
